Port Macquarie Philosophy Forum
The intention of the Port Macquarie Philosophy Forum is to provide a venue for those who are interested to hear lectures and hold discussions about philosophy.
The Forum was started in 2018 by a small group of philosophy enthusiasts from the local community. It is a not-for-profit community venture run by a volunteer organising committee. Our aim is to organise one event per month between February and November each year.
Guest speakers from universities and other relevant institutions are invited to speak on the big philosophical questions of our time. Members of the Forum from the local area are also invited to speak.
After each event there is opportunity for discussion over drinks or a meal for those who wish to participate in this way.
Most events are held in the evenings on Thursdays or Sundays so that people who are working and students are able to attend. The Forum is open to everyone. A small entry fee is charged to cover room-hire costs and to help with travel and accommodation costs for our speakers when necessary. There is no need to book - just come along on the night.
